QatarEnergy and TotalEnergies have solidified their partnership through the signing of two long-term LNG sale and purchase agreements (SPAs), securing the supply of up to 3.5 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG from Qatar to France. The SPAs, inked at a special event in Doha, mark a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two entities, exemplifying their commitment to providing sustainable LNG supply solutions to global customers for an extensive 27-year period, starting from 2026.
Deliveries will be facilitated through the Fos Cavaou LNG receiving terminal in southern France, further reinforcing France's energy security. Notably, the LNG volumes will originate from joint ventures between QatarEnergy and TotalEnergies, boasting interests in Qatar's renowned North Field East (NFE) and North Field South (NFS) projects. The signing ceremony, graced by His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, and Mr. Patrick Pouyanné, the Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, solidifies the shared dedication of both companies to ensuring a sustainable and reliable energy supply to the European market.
Minister Al-Kaabi emphasized the strategic importance of the newly established agreements, highlighting the enduring commitment of Qatar to the European markets and underscoring the nation's consistent efforts to bolster energy supplies worldwide. With a focus on maintaining a sustainable and eco-conscious approach, QatarEnergy's new LNG expansion project stands as a testament to its dedication to reducing carbon footprint, positioning it as the world's least carbon-intensive initiative. Furthermore, TotalEnergies' active involvement in the North Field LNG Expansion Projects, holding shares in both the NFE and NFS ventures, solidifies the collaborative efforts of both entities in ensuring a stable and efficient LNG supply chain.
