Baker Hughes has entered into an agreement with Tellurian Inc. to provide eight main refrigerant compression packages for the first phase of the Driftwood LNG project. The deal includes the delivery of eight LM6000PF+ gas turbines, main refrigerant compressors, and control units required for the initial phase. This partnership aims to support Driftwood LNG in achieving its target of producing liquefied natural gas (LNG) by 2027.
Baker Hughes is also on schedule to complete the fabrication of electric-powered, zero-emission Integrated Compressor Line (ICL) packages and other turbomachinery equipment for the Driftwood Pipeline 200 by early next year. This project began following a contract award in 2022.
Driftwood LNG LLC, a subsidiary of Tellurian, is developing an LNG production and export terminal on the west bank of the Calcasieu River, south of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Once completed, it is expected to export up to 27.6 million metric tons of LNG globally.
Octavio Simoes, President and CEO of Tellurian, stated that this agreement solidifies their plans for securing critical technology for Driftwood Phase 1 and highlights their long-term relationship with Baker Hughes.
Baker Hughes Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli emphasized their commitment to supporting Tellurian's LNG projects and their expertise in LNG technology solutions.
Additionally, Baker Hughes and Venture Global LNG have expanded their master equipment supply agreement for the delivery of more liquefaction train systems and power island systems for Venture Global's future LNG export projects. This agreement supports Venture Global's expansion plan to increase its LNG export capacity to more than 100 million metric tons per annum (mtpa) from the current 70 mtpa.
Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel expressed the company's commitment to delivering low-cost LNG to meet the world's growing energy demand.
Lorenzo Simonelli highlighted the role of natural gas in the energy transition and Baker Hughes' contribution to providing technology solutions for modular LNG designs.
Baker Hughes will provide LNG technology solutions for the Plaquemines LNG facility, which is currently under construction.
Venture Global has made a final investment decision on both phases of its Plaquemines LNG facility, with the first LNG production expected in 2024 at a nameplate capacity of 20 mtpa. Construction of the CP2 LNG facility is expected to begin later this year following authorization from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
